Mission Location
[/font][/ul]Spying. An act of observing someone/something furtively in order to gain information. A job performed by many shinobi, if not all. It would usually describe casing a target for elimination, or gather information about an enemy convoy, or their future plans. However, this act that was performed by this black hooded figure was to find evidence of an illicit love affair. Compared to the importance of its intended performance from shinobi, this was rather weak-willed and socially heavy. However, in a objective perspective, if Kenji wanted to know if someone was indeed faithful, he would hire a shinobi with the skills and talent to find out fast.
Just a few hours ago, Kenji had got assigned the mission to spy on a middle-aged man for a middle-aged woman to find evidence for an affair to prove that her husband had or has been unfaithful. He wondered during that time what made her think so. Lack of sex? Lack of hugs? Perhaps he was drawn into his work and forgot she existed. It was only speculation, but oh how he loved to speculate realistic possibilities. It reminded him of a poem, he'd kept in his little brown book with the scale insignia
"Would you care if we quit talking
Would you care if I went walking
I need to know how you feel
So I know how to deal
I like it when your by my side
I hate it when you try to hide
All the cheating and the lies
Brings me one step closer to saying goodbye"
It reminded him of how those who love can also be cheated upon. It frightened him to a certain extent. Relationships of the future would have to be trudged carefully. Enough of his inner thoughts. A mission was meant to be completed. He walked within the crowd with his eyes indirectly watching his target as he seemed the target talk to a female merchant, rather old, but still could be the target of his desires. He continued to watch under cover, as their conversation seem to drag on and on, seemingly about nostalgic events and the past. He wasn't in a rush, and she wasn't either. She took care of whatever customers she had, and resumed their incessant exchange of words.
The time passed, and the husband said his goodbyes to his friend. Kenji kept his eyes on him throughout the process, as well as moving out of inconspicuous locations from time to time. He moved, and so did Kenji. With swiftness of a ninja, and stealth of an assassin, he kept watch silently over his movements as he ventured into the flower store, then an instrumental shop, and then a jewelery shop. In truth, his choice of shops were curious, which reminded Kenji of what the wife had said during their first meeting.
"My husband is a cheating scum! I know it! He's always gone, and he's nervous around me like i wouldn't notice. He's definitely up to something." Is what she said.
However, the man before him was confident and did not even think about looking at his surroundings as if he was trying to keep a secret. Perhaps this is one of those days where he's not doing anything? When he sat at a cafe shop, Kenji decided to do some back-paddling reconnaissance. He went back to the flower store, asked if the owner had saw the man, and she replied with a "Yes. He ordered a huge amount of flowers to be delivered today." When he asked where, she wouldn't say. He couldn't very well force her to, so he impeded his piercing questions right there.
The instrumental shop was the same. When asked, the owner replied that he had ordered instruments to be delivered today, but she wouldn't reply as to where. He moved onwards. The jewelery store was quite different. He simply made a purchase, and left. However, the owner wouldn't say what he bought or what for. The mystery only grew.
After all that, he ventured back the cafe to see the husband talking to a man defined by his girth. They seemed to be smiling, and happy. Perhaps he was gay? The mystery was annoying. The entire mission was quite a bit annoying, to be perfectly honest. He shrugged off his emotions that would affect the mission and kept going. After a few hours later, nearing night time, Kenji had found out what all the secrecy and nervousness was for, and almost busted a gut in the attempt. Not only that, he was spotted by the husband and was told to give her a message. He knew all along she had him followed.
He ventured back towards the wife's home with a slight smile drawn upon his face in slight of the entire situation. A light knock here. A word of presence there. The wife opened the door and looked at Kenji with eyes of excitement. "Your husband is at XX lane & XX street, doing some rather shady business." He woman eyes of excitement turned into eyes of fear. She'd loss her composure. After all this time, time after time, the husband has come up clean, however on this day he would be discovered cheating? The very thought of that frightened her to no end.
They went to the park, and as she was ready to cry a river. A huge crowd of people started to appear, music begun to play, and flowers were drawn across the surroundings in a beautiful display. The woman's face of awe and shock was priceless, and Kenji couldn't help but laugh at the entire thing. The husband was becoming secretive, not because he was cheating, but because he wanted to surprise his wife with their anniversary present, and through all of her accusations and suspicions, she completely slept through, figuratively, her anniversary coming up. She walked towards him to the middle of the circular display of roses, and he took a knee, his face smiling, and her face covered in tears. "Happy Anniversary." Kenji said softly, wording the mouth of the man afar proposing her with a diamond necklace.
Well, I guess in all of their faults, they could still throw something as extravagant as this for their signifant other. Even if this entire thing was pointless, it was a beautiful sight to see, and he was happy he'd taken the mission, and perhaps the last accusation of adultery relating to these two. "Be sure to pay the mission center!" He shouted, waving off as he donned on his black hood and walked out of the dazzling scenery. Mission was completed, and he was ready to continue on with his life. As he was most certainly sure they were.
