Vallen was ready for the yelling and anger. When he took the traditional bow he threw away all pride and self. It was obvious that neither of these two understood how Vallen felt about Kentei. All they saw was the fighting and the differences in them. The focused on the things that didn't entirely matter in the samurai world. They overlooked his devotion to his clan's heir, his loyalty to his village, the long hours he spends training while other children are playing or eating dinner with their families. The fact that the he was face down, prostrating himself before the general was lost on Asuka's simple mind. She either didn't care or didn't know about tradition(Not that Vallen always did) Vallen couldn't tell which was worse. His hands lay flat on the floor, his head not wavering. Not even when he was finally given the specifics of Kentei's mission for the first time.
His venomous train of thought was side tracked as he spoke but he still never raised his head, his hands flat underneath it. His mind reeled with the possibilities, too many. He focused his breathing to quell the emotional shit storm raging inside of him. Which was, as it turns out, a good thing. Vallen wasn't like most people in a lot of ways and one of them is that while some people get flustered or unfocused when they get angry, Vallen was the opposite. When he got angry things became clearer, life slowed down a bit and he could just work with it. It was one of his more notable qualities: This Focus of Vallen's. Something he would one day become renown for but for now he just thought of an argument, on the spot.
Then Asuka went and did it. The girl who was two full years older than him yet still couldn't claim to be a better swordsmen. Sure she knew the technique, the signature of the samurai. Vallen would no doubt learn it soon, if just to spite her and her foul flea ridden fox. She had the audacity to question, no not even question. To out right say that Vallen has had a negative effect on him!! Vallen's flat hands balled with rage. Their white knuckles a glowing testament to his control as he never so much as lifted his head to look at her. General, if what Asuka says is true and you have no idea where he is, than it is even more important to send him back up. he said through a controlled and steady voice Vallen continued to speak into the ground, letting it reverberate through the entire room.
Send me with however many guards you sent with Kentei, we can track them knowing who and what were looking for. Vallen continued, hoping his on the spot plan would sound as good out loud as it did in his head. He was beyond the point of angry, his rage was evident in his balled fists which seethed with a white hot rage. Still he spoke clearly and with direct purpose, not giving in to the anger, We can find them and we can switch guard. Allowing whoever is with Kentei to return with the information, faster than normal. Taking a deep breath Vallen continued I also feel that My going with them is also a decent option to consider, for the same reason you sent Kentei alone. Kimiko-Sensei would stand out ANYWHERE she went and Asuka and her fox aren't exactly inconspicuous. He said Successfully fighting the urge to look at her and smile.Leaving me, the LEAST suspicious person, if i chose to be.
Vallen didn't want to say how he could be even less suspicious looking but it's worked on more than one occasion and it would more than likely work on another. A samurai must use all his strength and cunning to defeat an opponent on many levels, Vallen knew this well enough. He knew that deceit and backstabbing where a way of life for ninja and for some Samurai too. So he had one sure fire way that no one would notice him, well not notice it was him at least. However that was a last ditch effort that he wouldn't think out loud, let alone think it.
