KNOWLEDGE every ounce of this world's knowledge belongs to me His crimson orbs drifted towards the darkening sky as he leaned his chair back. The wooden construct groaned quite loudly as he propped it up on its two hind legs, however he chose to ignore it thinking about other more important things rather than the structural integrity of his seat. His mind wandered thinking about the various activities of his village and the progression of those he had the luxury of calling his subjects, and as his mind wandered, his eyes observed what was painted across the vast heavens that they were blessed to be so close to. Before his very eyes gathered clouds of various colors and densities. Some were dark and ugly, while others were lighter and more fluffy. Still all of the heralded the same thing. Rain was coming. Rain had very many benefits that it could bring to their village. For starters it would replenish the diminishing supply of water in the various wells through out the village. It would also water their crops which rarely ever saw the liquid unless someone were to manually nourish them. It would also clear the streets of noisy children when their parents forced them to play inside, rather than risk them catching cold. So many benefits, he mused, however their were many disasters it could bring as well, and sadly Kei feared this rain spell would bring more disasters than fortunes. He stood from his chair suddenly, causing the wooden piece of furniture to clatter noisily to the ground, before walking over to the large window that was centered perfectly along the western wall of his office. He clasped his hands together behind his back allowing the long sleeves of his ivory kosode to completely obscure them. From his new position he continued to study the darkening clouds in the midday sky. No emotion showed on the Overseer's face. For now, in his solitude, he was the epitome of stoic. However it would not last long if someone were to bother him now for he was worried. More worried than a leader perhaps should be over a simple rain spell. "I wonder if we'll have to cancel classes this afternoon," he spoke in a calm collective manner to no one in particular as he raised his head a bit more to view the clouds gathering more directly above his manor. As he performed this simple motion his ivory tresses lost their place on his shoulder and fell over his chest in a large bundle. As he took in a deep breath and held it he dispersed all sound in his office for a brief moment to listen. He could already hear it. The faint, however present, din of rain pattering against the roof. "So it has begun," he released his breath before turning to wander towards the large shelf stacked all the way to the ceiling with tomes and scrolls. Releasing his hands from his back, he would examine the titles and colors of each of the tomes present on the shelves, while he did so he ran a finger along their spines widths with the traveling of his eyes. That was until he located the tome he had been searching for and pulled it free from the other tomes. He was careful when he pulled open the cover of the ancient tome so that he would not damage the binding any more than it currently was so as to avoid having to rebind the tome later. He was even more gentle with the pages, flipping through them casually until he came across the page he had been looking for. Once he found his page, he wandered to his desk before he collected a brush from an ink vial and wrote down a few things in the book. Once he was finished he set the book aside, carefully, on his desk to allow the ink to dry before replacing the brush on his desk where it had previously been. "Last time there was a horrible rain spell," he spoke to himself, "The Houseki Mines were flooded. I certainly hope nothing like that happens again this time." | words 687 tags open notes none chakra 100% |
