when she's lit the whole wide world i want to know if you will beg me and then tell me how to love you like anybody else would i know you're risking failure go run for cover you better start to love her
"Of course I'll have you." Why would she have offered if she wasn't actually willing to take him in for a while? Admittedly, she hadn't exactly expected him to accept - being that they knew so little about each other, and he didn't really know that, so long as he didn't become hostile, she was harmless to him - but she was pleased that he had.
However, she could also say the same of herself - she didn't know that he wouldn't turn and kill her or rape her if his mood changed. She didn't know who he was, or if he had underlying motives for accepting her offer. Indeed, she would just have to trust him, and he would have to trust her, otherwise they were never going to get anywhere.
Eri cocked her head to the side and looked up at him, squeezing water out of her skirt. What truth had he been reluctant to reveal? What did he think would make her unwilling to offer him a few simple kindnesses? In truth, there were very few things that would make her rethink her offer, and she rather doubted that any of those were going to come out of his mouth. He just seemed too nice to have done anything truly horrible.
She considered his admission in silence for a moment. "Is that supposed to be some terrible crime against humanity?" she teased lightly, a small smile on her face. "You have the right to make your own decisions in life. I can only assume you had a good reason for wanting to find this man. It's a shame you didn't have the chance to."
Sure, the dead man could have been a criminal of the highest degree, the worst of the worst - but that didn't mean he was any less worthy of companionship from a friend. That was the way she saw it, anyway. Very few people were completely beyond all hope of redemption.
"While we're on the subject... I might as well tell you." A pause. "I'm a rogue shinobi as well. Formerly of Yokuchigakure. The village's council framed me for treason.. I had the choice between my village and my life, and I chose life." It wasn't any big dramatic story, and it certainly wasn't something one would expect from a nukenin, but all the same - he had been honest with her, so she would be honest with him.
"Now, come on. We don't want to be standing around here when those men come back," she pointed out, beginning to head in the direction of her home.
